Texas Neurology is Hiring an Infusion Therapy RN (PRN) Near Dallas, TX

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for providing professional nursing care for infusion clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient infusion therapy. Functions as primary liaison between IV patients, staff, and physicians.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Utilizes the nursing process to provide individualized goal-directed patient care.
  • Performs reconstitution and preparation of medications for infusions. Acts as blinded, or un-blinded, personnel for clinical research infusions, per research protocols.
  • Maintains Infusion Clinic for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness of the IV Clinic. Prepares and orders medical supplies as needed. Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. Maintains all infusion-related equipment.
  • Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to infusion treatments to physicians. Consults with ordering physicians to clarify orders.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for infusion treatments. Screens patients for appropriate information. Educates patient/family regarding infusion therapy.
  • Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
  • Responds to/refers incoming IV patient treatment-related phone calls. Utilizes appropriate documentation forms and medical record policies to record patient interaction.
  • Patient education –provides support, basic information, resources available, symptom management, medication instruction and side effect information, compliance, and appropriate disease – specific instruction.
  • Participates in quality improvement and monitoring activities. Contributes to the success of the IV Clinic as well as TNPA's practice goals.
  • Participates in continuing education programs and in-service programs to ensure continuous professional growth.
  • Follows OSHA TNPA Compliance plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO and physicians.
  • Knows and conforms to the Texas Nurse Practice Act and the board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State, or local laws, rules or regulations affecting the RN's current area of nursing practice.
  • Provides, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of the age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, and race, religion, or health problems of the client served.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
  • Engages in positive communication behavior.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office and exam settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

SCHEDULE: The hours for this position would be around 35-40 hours per month. Hours would be as needed based on staffing needs. Current need is for two Fridays a month 12-7pm, three Saturdays a month from 2-7pm and one Saturday a month 8am-7pm.
